About this attraction
A small village on the Kosi River, on the Ramnagar–Ranikhet road. The Mohan Man-Eater terrorised cart-trackers and villagers along the valley; Corbett's pursuit involved a gruelling chase through vertical thickets before tracking it into a boulder-strewn ravine. The Kath Ki Nao ridge above is where he spent sleepless nights. Today Mohan sits within a critical wildlife corridor for elephants and tigers, and is a fine spot for angling and quiet river walks.

Mohan is a village immortalised by Jim Corbett in his globally acclaimed classic Man-Eaters of Kumaon, in the chapter 'The Mohan Man-Eater', in which he tracks and slays a tiger gone rogue. Today it sits on the fringes of Jim Corbett National Park along the Kosi River valley.
Where is Mohan located?
Mohan is located a little over 14 km from Ramnagar, along the road connecting Ramnagar with the Corbett region. The entry gate to the Mohan safari zone is the Phato Gate near Mohan Nagar Maldhan, about 26 km from Ramnagar.
What is the story of the Mohan Man-Eater?
The Mohan Man-Eater killed many humans in the Kosi Valley for several years. Corbett finally hunted it down in the summer of 1930, following the old district board road from Ramnagar on foot. Alighting at Ramnagar station in 1930, Corbett had to undertake a steep 4,000-ft climb in pursuit of the Mohan man-eater.
